HYDERABAD, Nov 25: The Sindh Progressive Nationalist Alliance (SPNA) brought out a huge rally and held a meeting on the station road in Tando Mohammad Khan on Thursday in protest against the proposed construction of Kalabagh Dam.
The rally also condemned indifferent attitude of the government towards the flood-affected people and increasing incidents of terrorism and price hike in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, convener of the SPNA Ayaz Latif Palijo advocate said that all the resources of Sindh, including water, finances, coal, oil and gas, were in control of Islamabad and big cities of the province such as Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas had been handed over to terrorists.
The government had miserably failed in its manifesto of providing “Roti, Kapra aur Makan” to people, he said, claiming that the people of Sindh had now become conscious of their rights.
It was due to inefficiency and corruption of the rulers that Pakistan stood at number seven among the failed states, Latif Palijo said.
He said the proposed construction of Kalabagh Dam, rehabilitation of flood victims, price hike and terrorism were big challenges, but the government had failed to resolve these issues.
Chairman of the Sindh Taraqi Passand Party Dr Qadir Magsi said that the people of Sindh were unable to keep their body and soul together due to hunger and poverty and added that the flood affected people had been left at the mercy of nature.
He said Punjab had taken over full control of water and mineral resources of the province for which Sindh was getting no royalty.
President of the Sindh United Party Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah said that the government had failed to resolve the basic problems of the people.
He accused ministers of developing artificial breaches in the river Indus bunds, rendering millions of people homeless.
Chief of the Save Sindh Movement Syed Shah Mehmood Shah said that problems of the people had increased manifold during the PPP regime because corruption within the government was at its peak
